Baxter Springs Officer/Firefighter praised after performing CPR on fire victim

A Baxter Springs Officer/Firefighter is being praised for his heroic actions during a structure fire in Lowell. Read the full press release below:

“This morning, 05/24/21, at 12:01 am, Baxter Springs Fire Department and Galena Volunteer Fire Department along with Baxter Springs and Galena EMS were dispatched to a reported structure fire in Lowell with a confirmed entrapped victim.

Baxter Springs Police Officer and BSFD Firefighter Seth Brown arrived first on scene in his patrol vehicle and entered the burning residence with another individual from the home and rescued the victim with significant risk to their own safety. He then performed CPR for 4 minutes until Fire and EMS arrived on scene.

After the victim was cared for and transferred to EMS, firefighters from Baxter and Galena entered the structure and quickly extinguished the second story fire without further incident.
