Volunteer Militia bill discussed by Missouri Committee on Tuesday
The militia would be dubbed "The Minutemen"

The Missouri Senate General Laws Committee held a hearing on Tuesday that discussed establishing an all volunteer militia under the direct command of the governor.
Senate Bill 528 names this militia,”The Minutemen”, and would call the group into action “for defense during a state of emergency” by the governor.
In a bill summary, any Missouri resident that can legally own a gun would be able to register for the militia with the Department of Public Safety.
The identities of these members can not be disclosed under penalty of law.
Members would be required to supply their own guns, ammunition, equipment, and other items.
The governor would be solely in charge of the militia and oversee discipline, training, and other administrative tasks.
If the bill was violated and information regarding identities of the members disclosed, offenders would be subjected to a $1,000 fine.
