Suspicious device found near Pitt State had small amount of incendiary components

Authorites have released an update related to the “suspicious device” that was found near Pittsburg State University Wednesday afternoon. Read the press release below:

An investigation into this incident continued into Wednesday evening, March 3, 2021. The Kansas State Highway Patrol‘s Hazardous Device Unit responded to the scene, and assisted by dismantling the suspicious device, which did contain a small amount of incendiary components. 

Pieces of the device were retained and will be transferred to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation‘s Forensic Laboratories for further examination of trace evidence. 

At this time no suspects have been developed. 

The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time.
