Authorities investigating ‘suspicious device’ near Pitt State

Authorities are investigating a “suspicious device” that was found near Pittsburg State University. Read the full press release below:

On Wednesday afternoon, March 3, 2021, at approximately 2:50 PM, law enforcement officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were notified by the Pittsburg State University Police Department that a suspicious device had been located in an area adjacent to the university campus in the 1500 block of S. Joplin St.

Officers responded to that location and found the device in question.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol’s Hazardous Device Unit has been contacted and are responding to assist in the investigation.
