A conflict between family ended with two being hospitalized in Bois D'Arc.

(AP) - Police in southwestern Missouri say a man and woman have been hospitalized following a family domestic disturbance involving several people that ended with the man being shot by his wife. The Greene County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened Thursday afternoon, when a 33-year-old man assaulted an 82-year-old woman inside a home in rural unincorporated Bois D'Arc, about 15 miles northwest of Springfield. Deputies say an investigation showed that the man bludgeoned the woman in the face and shot a rifle near her. Investigators say the man's wife and children fled outside during the assault and that the man threatened them with the rifle as they tried to get into a vehicle. Deputies say that's when the wife shot the man in the chest with a handgun.
