Newton County crews fight morning fire in icy conditions

It was an icy morning to fight a fire- about five degrees- but fire crews from Neosho, as well as Newton County Sheriff's Deputies, the Newton County Ambulance service, MoDOT and the Seneca Fire District turned out just after midnight to a house fire on Hereford Road near Gazelle, west of Neosho.

A two-story wood structure was engulfed in flames.

A MoDOT team reportedly helped by salting the highway to allow firecrews and others to get through.

The family escaped safely but several pets reportedly died.
