Many rehab residents moved to previous Cox-Monett facility

Concerns over possible health dangers posed by asbestos flooring uncovered during construction has led to many patients at Bentonview Park Health and Rehab in Monett to move into the former Cox-Monett Hospital.

It was a case of near-perfect timing because the old hospital had only become vacant a few hours earlier when an all-new Cox-Monett facility opened.

The old hospital was built in 1953.

David Compton, Barry County Emergency Management Director, says most of the Rehab’s patients will be going to their homes or to the former Cox-Monett.

He says in the meantime, teams work on an asbestos abatement plan at the rehab facility.
