Two area utilities will be adding solar power options for their customers

The Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas areas will see two area utilities adding solar power as a means of electricity generation in the next two weeks.

Liberty Utilities will be the first to implement solar power as it completes its 2.2-megawatt solar farm around Prosperity, which is south of Carterville and east of Webb City.

Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative, located in Kansas, is building two of their own solar arrays in locations in Neosho and Crawford counties.
