Pet food recall across the US.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has recalled several pet food products which led to the death of 28 dogs and caused illness for eight others that ate the product.

The recalled food contains "potentially fatal levels of aflatoxin." This toxin is created by mold that has grown on corn or other grains.

The list of food, all Sportmix brand, includes Energy Plus, Premium High Energy, and Original Cat.

These products were distributed to online retailers and stores within the United States, according to the FDA.

Symptoms to look out for are sluggishness, loss of appetite, vomiting, jaundice, and diarrhea.

Consult a veterinarian if you've fed your pet this food.
