Teen hit while riding bicycle in Carl Junction

A 14-year-old was taken to a local hospital after being hit while riding a bicycle in Carl Junction Tuesday evening. Read the full press release from Police Chief Delmar Haase below:

At 6:18 pm, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, an officer from the Carl Junction Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. bicycle crash at the intersection of Ashmore St. & Pennell St. in Carl Junction.

An investigation found that a westbound vehicle struck a bicycle that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane near the shoulder of the roadway. The bicyclist, a 14-year-old Carl Junction resident, received critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing; therefore, the names of the involved parties will not be released at this time.
