Joplin to again consider face mask mandate
City council will meet in a special session Thursday night
The Joplin City Council will once again discuss a face mask mandate at a special meeting Thursday night.
With cases of COVID-19 on the rise in the area and hospital beds filling up, local healthcare entities sent a letter to city leaders asking that action be taken in an effort to alleviate the spread of the virus.
This proposed order, if passed, would put that mandate into place through the end of February.
Failure to comply, as lined out in the ordinance, could render you a fine of up to $50 dollars.
Joplin had a mask mandate from July 11th to August 17th when the city council allowed it to expire.
