Pedestrian killed on southeast Kansas road

Sometimes it seems no good deed goes unpunished.

A pedestrian was just trying to remove debris from the road when he was hit and killed by a car around 8 p.m. Thursday evening on U-169 in Montgomery County Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Darrin Kebert of Cherryvale was hit by a car driven by 39-year-old Nicholas Barringer of Chanute.

Kebert suffered fatal injuries. Barringer was not injured.
