Inmate being treated for illness caused by coronavirus dies

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections says an inmate at a state prison who was being treated for the illness caused by the coronavirus has died.

The DOC said in a statement late Monday that the woman who was an inmate at the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in Taft died Saturday at a hospital. The woman's name was not released.

The department said the state medical examiner will determine whether COVID-19 was a factor in her death.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 65,053 total virus cases and 854 deaths due to COVID-19.
