Driver escapes with minor injuries

Luck and, perhaps, a little more were evidently on the side of  33-year-old Shannon Shutters of Joplin Sunday night.

Shutters was driving eastbound on Missouri Highway 171 shortly before 9 p.m. when his 2002 Ford Mustang went off the highway and struck some curbing.

Shutters was transported to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin with only minor injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Shutter was wearing a safety device.
