Candidate for Neosho County Commission killed in crash

A man from Erie, Kansas, was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a car Sunday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 31-year-old Christopher D. Ellis died from injuries he sustained when a 79-year-old woman from Parsons crossed into the lane he was riding in and hit him about three miles north of Erie.

The Wichita Eagle reports Ellis was running against incumbent David Orr for the Neosho County Commission seat.

The woman suffered minor injuries.
