I-49 traffic slowed Thursday due to home being moved

I-49 traffic turned into a traffic jam late this morning south of Carthage.

It happened when power lines got in the way of a building being moved down the interstate from Carthage to a location on Cimarron road. Unfortunately, electric lines impeded the progress of the massive structure.

The house stayed at a stop in the right (and part of the left) southbound lane while utility crews worked feverishly from cherry pickers to elevate the lines up and away from the structure.

Lanes were backed up or slowed for 90 minutes to two hours before the lines were lifted and the building was able to move on down the highway to its new home.
