Officials: 1 dead, 1 injured in Lawrence County shootings

Authorities in Lawrence County are investigating shootings that left one woman dead and another injured. The shootings happened Sunday night in Lawrence County near Miller and appear to be connected, although they happened in different places.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office says a woman called 911 Sunday night to report she had been shot and that a friend of hers had been killed at another location. The surviving woman was airlifted to a local hospital where she was in critical condition.

Deputies and troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted a search and found a woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound. It is believed that the suspects stole one of the victim's vehicles which was recovered partially burned in Dade County by the Dade County Sheriff's Office. Authorities arrested three people suspected in the shootings.

Several subjects have been taken into custody in connection with this investigation.  No formal charges have been filed at this time.  The investigation is still continuing and updates will be released as they become available.

The victims and suspects are believed to have all known each other and it is believed that there is no immediate threat to the public.
