Accidental drowning ruled in death of five-year-old in Joplin
A five-year-old girl, who was reported missing Saturday, was found dead by authorities due to accidental drowning. Read the full press release below:
Saturday, August 9th, Jasper County Deputies responded to a residence on S. Meadow Lane in Joplin to assist the Duquesne Police with a search for a missing five-year-old female juvenile. The surrounding area was searched and a K-9 officer was called to perform a track. While the search was being conducted the missing juvenile was located by Duenweg Fire Department in a swimming pool at a residence on 26th Street, a few blocks away from the residence. The child was transported by ambulance to the Freeman Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
