Woman injured by bean bag shots during investigation

A  woman suffered injuries early Thursday morning after allegedly being shot with bean bags by an officer when the pickup in which she was a passenger was stopped in connection with a reported armed robbery.

27-year-old Cecily Stanek was taken to Freeman West with thigh injuries.

Police say the driver of the pickup, 57-year-old Ron Stanek, was briefly detained but later released.

Police were investigating the armed robbery a short time earlier of 53-year-old Shani Oliver in the 1900 block of South Jackson.

Oliver told police a man armed with a sword stole two computer tablets from her and fled in a pickup.

Police are still looking for the suspected robber in that case.
