Plasma could be the key to fighting Covid-19

The Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center in south central Missouri is seeking COVID-19 convalescent plasma donors.

Referred to as CCP, this is the liquid part of blood collected from patients who have recovered from COVID-19 or have tested positive and have been at least 14 days without symptoms.

CCP contains antibodies believed to fight the coronavirus and is transfused into patients who are still fighting the infection.

The Department of Defense is on a mission to collect more than 10,000 COVID-19 convalescent plasma units by Sept. 30..
