Black bear hunting season proposed for Missouri

Black bears: There could be as many as 840 of them in Missouri.

But a proposal by the Missouri Dept. of Conservation to allow a limited bear hunt in 2021 is drawing the most interest from people opposed to the idea.

A majority of more than 3,300 people who offered public comments on the proposal were against the hunt.

The Conservation Dept. says a hunt is essential to managing the black bear population.
