An AP analysis shows that nearly one-third of those who have died from the coronavirus are African American, even though black people make up only about 14% of the population in the areas covered in the analysis.
St. Louis Democrat Representative Alan Green says the problem is nearing critical mass
"As I walked around today, I was noticing people," Green said. "I was saying ' We have to do something. We have to speak out. If we don't, we're going to lose our community.'"
Green, who spoke to Missourinet's Brian Hauswirth, is urging Missouri Governor Mike Parson to do business with female and minority-owned businesses that produce masks and other personal protection equipment.
