16-year-old injured after being shot

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting where a 16-year-old was injured. Read the full press release below:

On Monday, at approximately 3:15 P.M., Jasper County Deputies responded to 23630 Kafir Rd in Oronogo. This was in reference to a gunshot that resulted in non-life threatening injuries to a 16-year-old male.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 16-year-old male with injuries to his left cheek and neck area. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.

During the investigation it appears that an adult male had handled a shotgun in the bedroom and it went off traveling through the door and striking the juvenile male.

This case is still being investigated and more information will be released when appropriate to do so. There have been no arrests or charges at this time but that may change as the investigation is ongoing.
