Two arrested after throwing meth of out car during police pursuit

Two people were arrested for drug charges after allegedly fleeing from authorities on Tuesday. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a car stop on a suspected methamphetamine trafficker on I-49 which resulted in a pursuit. Read the full press release below:
The vehicle fled southbound on I-49 then westbound onto 60 Highway. During the pursuit, several pounds of methamphetamine were thrown out of the vehicle along a 5-mile stretch. The vehicle proceeded onto Palm Road and crashed approximately ¾ mile south of 60 Highway. Additional methamphetamine was then located in the vehicle.
One male and one female were taken into custody. They are charged with Trafficking of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Felony Resisting Arrest and Destruction of Evidence.
This was a result of a joint effort between the District 13 Drug Task Force out of Oklahoma, The Ozark Drug Task Force Team and the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. The Seneca Police Department and the MSHP also assisted in the pursuit.
