Pittsburg man arrested for assaulting officer, meth, warrants

A man from Pittsburg, who was already wanted on several warrants, is now facing a multitude of charges after he was caught fleeing from police by jumping out of a second floor window Thursday evening. Read the full press release below:
Pittsburg Police responded to the residence located at 403 E. 20th St., Pittsburg, regarding information that a wanted person was at this address. Officers had received a tip that 36-year-old Jacob D. Lawson, of Pittsburg, was at this location. Lawson held multiple active warrants for his arrest for various offenses including possession of narcotics, failure to appear, theft, possession of stolen property and contempt of court.
Officers responded to 403 E. 20th St. where contact was made with the occupants and a search of the residence was conducted. During this search, Lawson was located on the second floor of the residence, however Lawson did not comply with the commands that were given to him by the officers, and he then began fleeing by jumping out of a second floor window and running away on foot. An officer, who was outside of the residence, began chasing Lawson and caught him shortly thereafter, and Lawson was taken into custody without further incident.
As Lawson was fleeing from the residence, he was observed discarding an item that was collected, and is believed to be approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine. Neither Lawson, nor any of the officers received any injuries during this incident.
Lawson was transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. In addition to his warrants, Lawson was arrested for felony aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, felony interference with law enforcement, felony obstructing apprehension and misdemeanor failure to appear. Lawson is being held without bond.
