Missouri ponders ideas to improve teacher recruitment, retention

Teachers are getting harder to find in Missouri.
The Missouri Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education announced 26 strategies for dealing with the problem last week.
Pay is a big issue. Missouri is 40th in the nation now.
One strategy would be to change that to 26th.
That would make average teacher's salary around $54,000 a year.
The possible strategies and tactics include a wide-ranging of list of suggestions to improve teacher recruitment and retention.
