Police chase ends when vehicle hits dump truck

A Jasper County police pursuit ended when a suspect vehicle crashed into a dump truck Wednesday afternoon. Detective Tim Williams tells us it all started when a deputy ran the license plate on a vehicle that didn't match its description and that the owner of the plates had a warrant. A traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle fled. The chase ended at Perkins and Schifferdecker in Joplin when the SUV hit a dump truck. Two men inside got out and ran on foot but were caught a short time later after a K9 found their tracks. The passenger was released with charges pending. The driver, Michael Freeman, was taken into custody and charges are being submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor's Office.
