Suspect arrested in Pitt stabbing

A man from Girard has been arrested as a suspect stemming from a stabbing in Pittsburg last weekend. Read the full press release below:
On Tuesday afternoon, June 4, a suspect was arrested in relation to the stabbing incident that took place behind 618 W. Martin St. on Saturday night, May 25.
Ongoing follow up investigation into this incident identified 23-year-old Damian Alexander Capps, of Girard, Kansas, as the suspect. An arrest warrant application for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder was presented to the Crawford County Attorney’s Office, and on Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Capps was arrested without incident in lola, Kansas, by the lola Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Capps was transported to the jail at the Allen County Sheriff’s Office pending transfer to the Crawford County jail, and is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time.

On Saturday night, May 25, 2019, at approximately 9:45 PM, Crawford County EMS, Pittsburg Fire Department and law enforcement officers from the Pittsburg Police Department responded to 618 W. Martin St. in reference to a report of a stabbing incident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that 20-year old Adam West had been stabbed during an altercation behind that address. Mr. West was initially taken to a Pittsburg hospital for treatment, and was then transferred to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri, for additional treatment. Mr. West was later released.
