Colorado man arrested in stolen vehicle in Joplin

A man from Colorado was arrested in a stolen vehicle in Joplin Thursday night. Read the full press release below:

On May 9, 2019 at 11:44pm a Joplin Police Officer on patrol checked a parked vehicle on a vacant lot just east of 7th and Schifferdecker. The vehicle, a Chevy Cobalt, had Colorado License Plates that returned as a stolen vehicle involved in a missing juvenile case in Colorado.

Officers made contact with an adult male and a juvenile female in the vehicle. The adult male, Joseph D. Eagle, 28, Rifle, Colorado was found to have a Felony Warrant out of Garfield County, Colorado for Sexual Assault. He was taken into custody for the warrant, tampering with a stolen vehicle and felony fugitive. Charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.

The 15-year-old missing juvenile in the vehicle lied to officers about her identity and then grabbed onto an officer’s firearm while it was holstered on the officer’s belt. Forced was used to prevent her from removing the gun from the holster. She was taken into custody for several charges including assault on law enforcement and recovered as a missing juvenile from Colorado. The investigation is on-going.
