Purdy teen facing assault charges after allegedly punching elderly man

An 18-year-old Purdy man has been charged with first degree assault or attempted involving serious physical injury or special victim.

Asahel Rodriguez had been wanted for the alleged assault of a 67-year-old man last week that led to the man suffering an internal brain bleed.

Rodriguez was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Barry County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.

Rodriguez allegedly threatened the man at the man’s home on a farm road in Purdy then lured him outside and punched him in the face several times.
