Shots fired at Joplin Kum & Go

UPDATE: No charges have been filed in the case. A disturbance at a home led to a man shooting out a tire of one of those vehicles involved.

Joplin Police are investigating exactly what happened that led to shots fired at the Kum & Go on South Main. Captain Trevor Duncan says they got a call of a disturbance between two vehicles as those vehicles got to the convenience store. Shots were being fired by one of those people.

Fortunately an off-duty Joplin officer was close to the incident and was able to detain the shooter before officers arrived. The suspect was then taken into custody. Several people are being questioned about the incident. There were no injuries and the area has been deemed safe as evidence is being gathered.
