Victim identified in fatal crash west of Galena

A man from Galena was killed in a crash just a mile and a half west of Galena Wednesday evening. The Kansas Highway Patrol says around 7 p.m., 47-year-old David Furry was crossing Route 66 south to north on a bicycle when he was hit by a car traveling west near mile marker 2. That driver was 50-year-old Julissa Russell of Rincon, Georgia. The crash caused portions of the highway to be closed for several hours.
