Galena school placed on temporary lock-down, lifted after nearly three hours

Some schools in Galena were placed on lock down for over two and a half hours Tuesday. Read the full press release from Galena Police below:
On Tuesday, January 8th, at approximately 11:40 am; an officer with the Galena Police Department noticed a vehicle that was involved an assault which was reported earlier in the day. The Officer turned to get behind the vehicle at 10th and Joplin Street. The vehicle made a quick turn at 10th and Short Street and the driver jumped out and took off on foot. As a precautionary measure the Police Department notified the school and placed them on temporary lock-down. After a thorough search of the area was conducted, the lock-down was lifted at approximately 2:15 pm. The vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of Downstream Casino on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available.
