Authorities in Southeast Kansas are investigating the death of a 23-month-old boy. On Friday, the Bourbon County Sheriff's office was called about a missing child in a rural part of the county west of Fort Scott.

A deputy arrived on scene and was informed the child, who was identified as Arwin Vincent, was found near a pond. CPR was then performed on the child as EMS arrived and took him to a local hospital.

Unfortunately, Vincent was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities have scheduled an autopsy in Kansas City.
