Suspect Injured in Officer Involved Shooting in Joplin

An officer involved shooting at the Springview Garden Apartments at West 22nd and McCoy in Joplin this afternoon is being investigated. Joplin Police were called to assist the Ozark Drug Enforcement Team to pull over a stolen vehicle. The driver of the truck tried to allude and evade police into those apartments where he then fled on foot into the complex. That’s when shots were fired and the male suspect, who authorities say did NOT live in the apartments, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were hurt. The investigation is ongoing.
