Texas Billionaire Couple Backing Missouri Amendment 1

A growing movement to curb partisan gerrymandering will be put to the test on Tuesday by several state ballot measures that are intended to overhaul the way congressional and state legislative districts are drawn.
The proposals in Missouri, Colorado, Michigan and Utah have been backed by a little-known organization bankrolled by a Texas billionaire couple.
The Action Now Initiative is financed by John and Laura Arnold, and has poured $7.7 million into the redistricting campaigns. That accounts for one of every four dollars raised by supporters.
The funding has helped the supporters significantly outspend their opponents.
The details of the ballot measures vary, but all seek to reduce partisan advantages in drawing district boundaries after the 2020 Census.
Missouri Amendment 1 will be on the November 6th ballot and would also amended the constitution concerning campaign contributions, gifts to state legislators, lobbying restrictions, fundraising on state property and open public records.
