On Saturday morning, October 27, 2018 at 8:02 am, officers responded to the 100 block of W. Forest Street in reference to a stolen van. The vehicle was recovered later that afternoon at the Town and County Trailer Park, 1517 W. 4th street. Officers spoke with witnesses and obtained suspect information.

While officers were searching for the suspect, a citizen called from the 1100 block of W. 4th street, who advised that a male matching the description of the suspect, had just attempted to steal their truck. The suspect then entered a green minivan and was last observed traveling west on 4th street.

Officers went back to the Town and County Trailer Park and located the green minivan, being driven by a Daniel Mashek, age 25. After further investigation, it was determined the minivan Mashek was driving was also stolen, and that Mashek had allegedly entered into a 500 block N. Water street residence and stole the keys to that minivan.
Mashek was arrested for three counts of Felony Motor Vehicle Theft, Burglary to a residence and Felony Theft. Mashek was taken to the CRCO Jail for the above charges and is also a suspect in three other motor vehicle Burglaries, due to the items he had in his possession at the time of his arrest.
