Pittsburg Police Investigating Shooting; Searching For Suspect

UPDATE #2:
As the investigation into the Saturday afternoon shooting of Vanessa Rae McWhirt-Martin continues, investigators have identified the alleged shooter. He is identified as: Eric James Cravey, 34, of Pittsburg, Kansas.
Cravey is described as a white male, approximately 5’7″ tall, 185 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Cravey was last seen with a full beard and was wearing a blue button up shirt. Cravey was last seen driving a 2011 black Dodge Nitro 4-door SUV. Cravey should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by the public. An arrest warrant charging Cravey with Attempted Murder has been issued.
The victim remains hospitalized at KU Medical Center in Kansas City in critical condition.
UPDATE: The woman has been identified as 37-year-old Vanessa Rae McWhirt-Martin of Chetopa. She’s currently at KU Medical Center in critical condition.
Police in Pittsburg are investigating a shooting and looking for a suspect.. Read the full press release below:
On Saturday, October 13, 2018 at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers of the Pittsburg Police Department, along with Crawford County EMS and Pittsburg Fire Department were called to the area of Quincy and Rouse Streets in reference to a female who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a female victim lying in a driveway of a vacant residence on the northwest corner of the intersection. The victim had suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to Via Christi Medical Center where she was taken into surgery. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.
According to witnesses at the scene, the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a white male. The victim had exited the vehicle and was arguing with the white male, who had also exited the vehicle. The male then allegedly shot the victim with an unknown type handgun, got back into the vehicle and left the scene eastbound on Quincy Street.
The suspect is described as a white male with a full beard and short dark hair, and was last seen wearing a blue button up type shirt. The vehicle involved in the incident was described as a black 4-door SUV, possibly a Dodge, with unknown tag.
