A Diamond man led police on a chase from Miami to south Joplin Wednesday night. Before 10 p.m, Miami Police attempted to stop a Camaro in Miami. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Travis Perry, initially stopped and then fled from them, leading police on a high speed chase. Ottawa County, Quapaw PD, and several Tribal Police agencies assisted in the pursuit. Joplin Police Captain Trevor Duncan tells News Talk KZRG they were also asked to assist.
“They requested our assistance in deploying stop sticks, but our officers were not able to get into position in time to do that, however the driver ended up pulling over and running into the woods around McClelland Park. Our officers helped to put up a perimeter and used a K9 to track the driver down. He was arrested without incident after the K9 found him, but did not engage him.”
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Perry was wanted on several felony warrants out of Jasper County. His bond has been set at $60,000.
