A Joplin man is facing child abuse charges after Joplin Police were called about an injured baby.  Joplin Police Captain Trevor Duncan tells News Talk KZRG Police were told about a baby who was brought to a local hospital last Saturday night (10/7).
“A six-week-old baby had been brought to the hospital with a broken leg and other injuries that were consistent with child abuse.  Our officers and detectives began an investigation and removed the child from the custody of his parents.”
24-year-old David Gordon, the baby’s father, has been charged with child abuse.  He’s being held on $25,000 bond.  The baby was transferred to a Kansas City hospital and is recovering.  Duncan adds a 24-month old girl was also removed from the parents’ custody and has been placed in alternative care.
