MO State High School Wrestling Meet Begins

Day 1 of competition is complete at the Missouri State High School wrestling tournament in Columbia. In Class 4, Joplin’s Solomon Garcia at 195 lbs. & Jadyn Withrow at 220 won their first round matches Thursday (2/16); while the Eagles’ Jacob Bartlett at 170 & Jacob Booe at 285 lost in the first round and the wrestlebacks. In Class 3, defending state champs Neosho had 8 wrestlers advance. In Class 2, all 7 of Monett’s wrestlers won their first round matches. And in Class 1, defending state champ Seneca had 9 of their 10 wrestlers win in round one, and the only one who didn’t (Dayton Fields at 132) pinned his wrestleback opponent in 21 seconds!
