I-44 Shooting Suspect ID'd

Cuba, MO (AP) -- The man shot and killed by a Missouri state trooper this week has been identified as 29-year-old Patrick Greer of Fort Worth, Texas.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released the name of the man on Wednesday, a day after Greer was shot and killed after reportedly opening fire on troopers and deputies.

The patrol says the U.S. Secret Service notified Cuba and Crawford County authorities that Greer was possibly in the area, and was wanted on felony warrants out of Texas for assault, a drug violation and engaging in organized crime.

Deputies and the patrol were chasing the suspect on Interstate 44, near Cuba. After being pulled over, Greer allegedly got out of his pickup and fired at officers, who returned fire. No officers were hurt.
