Plane Lands in Water

Tulsa (AP)  -- A pilot and a flight instructor escaped injury when they landed their small plane in the Arkansas River at Tulsa.

Luke Galan and flight instructor Homer Woolslayer say they were approaching Jones Riverside Airport in Jenks to land Saturday afternoon when the plane's engine failed. Galan was at the controls at the time but Woolslayer took over and touched down on sand before the plane stopped in just over one foot of water.

The Tulsa Fire Department rescued the men from a sandbar.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
