AIDS Cases Higher in Blacks

karam@zrgmail.com

Sixty-nine percent of all new HIV cases each year in Missouri are black women.  That's the newest report out from the Department of Health and Human Services.

Locally, hundreds of people are tested every year and Casey Himmelsbach with the Newton County Health Department tells us there are dozens who actually get diagnosed with the disease every year.

The state says the number of newly diagnosed HIV cases is more than eight times higher in black people than white people.
