MO Lawmakers to Focus on Child Abuse Investigators

Now that the Missouri Legislature and the Governor have proposed $2.2-million more for salaries for state child abuse investigators, a House-Senate committee expects to look at how those salaries are being paid. Representative Bill Lant of Pineville tells News Talk KZRG there was supposed to be a process for advancement among those investigators, and it has never developed.

"We've got people with 12 or 15 years of service that really aren't making more money than they would with just a year of service. That's really not conducive to keeping employees. We're wanting to look at whether or not the money is going where it's needed the most, or if they need additional allocations."

The additional money for the Children's Division is in a budget bill still awaiting action by Governor Nixon.
