Pittsburg Police Forced to Draw Weapons in Morning Traffic Stop

A rather odd incident led officers to draw their weapons on an Illinois man around 7:20 this morning in Pittsburg. Before police could pull the man over, he pulled into the high school parking lot while students were arriving. An off-duty police officer called in the man after he noticed him acting strange in Arma. Pittsburg Police Major Brent Narges tells News Talk KZRG what happened during the traffic stop.

"The order was given to put his hands out the window. He did not comply. He instead decided to grab the firearm; he did not point it at officers. Officers then drew their weapons, gave additional orders, and then soon he did comply with those orders."

Update 2:45pm: 55-year-old Timothy J. Winner of Tallula, IL was arrested for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and criminal use of a weapon on school property.
