Theo and Opal now have a new place to call home thanks to Rebuild Joplin, but it was a long road to get there. Client Service Coordinator Sharon Lindsey tells News Talk KZRG it was like real life detective work sorting through all of the legal issues.
"They purchased it just before the tornado came through and the paperwork didn't do through until six months after the tornado. Our job is to actually prove that they are the homeowners, and after a lot of time on Google, and meeting with lawyers, all of the puzzle pieces started to fall into place."
In addition to welcoming Theo and Opal home, Cici's Pizza presented a check to Rebuild Joplin. At a ceremony celebrating the organization's 128th rebuild, the restaurant was able to raise $2,000 by selling drink cards, and donating 20% of their sales from their grand opening. Cici's Operating Partner James Martin tells News Talk KZRG why they chose Rebuild Joplin.
"We just felt as a company that had our building blown away; and we came back to rebuild, we just wanted to be apart of the community and help Rebuild Joplin by doing some fund raising to provide for them."
Martin says they do plan to donate more to Rebuild Joplin and other organization within the community in the future.
