Investigator Tom Loraine suggested the Joplin City Council break away from master developer Wallace Bajjali during last night's special meeting, citing allegations that now-fired City Manager Mark Rohr never had the development agreement reviewed by outside legal consel. Alderman Bill Scearce tells News Talk KZRG the firm has fallen behind on reporting to the Council.
"We were supposed to get reports on the 2nd Monday of every month. We haven't had a month since October, maybe November."
However, Scearce says it's unlikely the Council will sever ties with Wallace Bajjali, despite the recommendation, as it'd cost them $3-million to do so.
"I don't think that's what we want to do right now. There's a buyout clause that Mark (Rohr) negotiated when we signed the original contract. As of today, that clause is $3-million."
The investigator also reported that Wallace Bajjali was involved with supposedly improper land deals with Councilman Mike Woolston, who maintains he did nothing wrong.
