US House Republicans have no chance of killing Obamacare. That's according to Missouri US Senator Roy Blunt.
"Not that people were badly motivated, or didn't have a good goal, but it just simply wouldn't work. The fact that the day of the shutdown was also the day the President's healthcare initiative launched just reaffirms my belief that (an attempt to defund Obamacare) wasn't going to work."
Blunt says he's now afraid that the shutdown will continue for quite some time, and that lawmakers need to focus discussion on whether or not to raise the nation's "debt ceiling."
"I think it shouldn't have happened, but it has happened, and now it's collapsing all of our discussions into just one big discussion, which means it'll probably go on longer."
