One of the four finalists to be the next Joplin City Manager has withdrawn his application.  Randy Wetmore of Marshalltown, Iowa is no longer in the running for the position.  The three remaining finalists are Joplin interim city manager Sam Anselm, Stephen Rasmussen of Jefferson City and Dean Kruithof from Bentonville, Arkansas.
Five out of eight McDonald County businesses tested in an alcohol compliance check over the weekend passed the test.

"Of the eight, three of them actually sold to the minor kids we were using.  But five of them didn't, so that was good."

McDonald County Sheriff Mike Hall tells News Talk KZRG the three that sold alcohol to people under 21 were the Mill Liquor Store, Mel's Liquor Store in Tiff City and Goodman Liquor. Hall says the clerks got a summons to court and the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control will determine what, if anything, will happen to the stores' licenses to sell alcohol.

Hall points out that it doesn't take a long look at a Missouri driver's license to see if someone is under the age of 21.  "All of the under 21 minor's licenses are vertical...and they actually say down the middle of them 'Under 21 until a certain day.'  Two of the (three violators) actually looked at their licenses and still sold."
